How to chop a vocal
A chop works best when it uses whole words or syllables, sits on the grid, and each slice stops the one before it.
Cut on the words
Slice at the start of a word or syllable, where the sound is clear. Tiny grains cut off the grid tend to sound broken rather than musical.
Put it on the grid
Place each slice on a step, then pitch them to a melody. Set each slice to cut off the one before it so nothing rings over the next.
Clean the edges
Add a very short fade to the start and end of each slice so it does not click.
