How to mix a free acapella into a beat
These vocals are already tuned and mixed, so the job is mostly making room in the beat. Here is where to start.
Do less to the voice
Compressing and brightening a finished vocal again can make it harsh. Try level, a gentle low cut and space first, then add more only if it needs it.
Make room in the beat
Pull a little out of the beat where the words live, around 2 to 5 kHz. Ducking the busiest parts of the beat when the voice comes in works even better.
Put it in a space
Use a short reverb and a delay timed to the tempo. The delay times for each song are on its own page.
