How to use a free vocal in FL Studio
Getting a downloaded vocal lined up in an FL Studio project takes about a minute. Here is the order that works.
Set the tempo first
Set the project tempo to the BPM on the vocal's page before you bring anything in. The vocal then lands on the grid with nothing to fix.
Bring it in
Drag the WAV onto the playlist and place it at the very start of bar one. Route its channel to its own mixer insert so its effects stay separate from the beat.
Write under it
Loop the hook, then build your drums and bass around it. Check the key on the vocal's page and write your melody in that key.
The vocals
